Samuil Stoyanov
Samuil Stoyanov is an artist and cultural activist who lives and works in Dobrich and Sofia, Bulgaria. Besides themany international group exhibitions, Stoyanov has had nine solo exhibitions. The most recent of which was at the Institute for Contemporary Art – Sofia Gallery, Bulgaria, 2010, titled ON THE TOP – an exhibition of Samuil Stoyanov and its Effect on Global Warming. He has won numerous artistic awards, the most significant of which are the BAZA Award, 2009 and the Gaudenz B. Ruf Award, 2011. In 2010 he was a resident artist at the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP), New York, USA. Stoyanov was represented in Frieze Magazine by Nedko Solakov for the anniversary issue 141, September 2011 (20/20 article). Stoyanov works with all types of existing media, in various forms, dealing with present day topics and exploring those which he finds of interest to him. Sometimes his work has an element of skepticism and often using sharp irony.
